Dear Friend,
That's a sobering statistic, and I hope you'll have all these families in your prayers this Thanksgiving. Growing up in a large family of modest means, I know what it's like to struggle. At times my father couldn't find work and the only way my mother could put dinner on the table was with food stamps. That's why I am fighting so hard to protect basic social safety net services here in Colorado. But I also know that government can only do so much to help, and that in tough times like these it's up to Coloradans to step up for their neighbors in need and make sure no family in our state goes hungry this holiday season -- or ever. That's why I'm organizing the Feed Colorado statewide food drive the weekend of December 11-13. Hosting a Feed Colorado event in your home or community gathering place is a wonderful way to help Colorado's neediest and connect with your neighbors, friends, and other volunteers in your area. Your Feed Colorado event can range from something as simple as asking your friends to bring some cans when they come over to watch a game, to organizing a countywide drive. Everything helps. And to the thousands of Coloradans worried about feeding their families this holiday season, know that there is hope. I am living proof of that. As Governor, I am fortunate to witness countless acts of kindness, compassion, and generosity by people I meet every day. So, while our public discourse is increasingly uncivil, I am confident that much of this acrimony would fall by the wayside if we can all re-commit to serving others, whether full time or in our spare time, in the public sphere or the private sector, in our charitable giving -- wherever we choose. One way you can help is by hosting or attending a Feed Colorado food drive event this holiday season. Thank you for all that you do to build a more hopeful, prosperous future for all Colorado families. Happy Thanksgiving, ![]() Bill Ritter, Jr. Governor P.S. This morning, Lt.
