Dear Friend,
President Obama sent an email to Coloradans last Wednesday night, immediately after his speech to Congress, stressing the importance of passing real health care reform.
In that message he added a special "P.S." singling out Senator Michael Bennet for his leadership on health care reform. Here is what he said:
"Since arriving in Congress, Senator Bennet has shown his commitment to real, sensible reform, working with me toward the same goals I outlined this evening -- and I want to thank him for his leadership on this issue. He's traveled all across the state of Colorado, holding town hall meetings in small towns and big cities, and he hasn't stopped standing up for real health reform that will get our economy moving again and help to bring the deficit under control."
The President is right. Michael has been leading the charge for health care reform all across Colorado. No matter how tough the audience, Michael has faced the difficult questions and he's made the case that Colorado's families and small businesses urgently need health care reform.
Watch video from Michael's health care town halls and sign the petition for health care reform at BennetForColorado.com/healthcare.
Michael isn't only fighting for Coloradans on health care -- he is a committed advocate for many reforms that are critical to getting our country back on track, including:
- Voting for the investment of billions of dollars into renewable energy development, and fighting to make sure the energy legislation being considered in the Senate is the best it can be for Colorado's clean energy economy.
- Placing the deciding vote in committee, and voting for passage of a law that will finally prohibit credit card companies from treating consumers unfairly.
- Advocating for transformation of our public education system into one that truly prepares students to compete in the 21st Century.
Michael has only served for a short time, but he has already earned a reputation in Colorado and in Washington as a serious, thoughtful and straightforward public servant.
This is not surprising because no matter what the context -- business, government, or public education -- Michael has built a long record of success, of doing big things, of not shrinking from hard choices or entrenched interests. We don't need to tell you that we need more of that in Washington.
Please stand with us as we stand with Michael. We fully support Michael's campaign for election in 2010, and are asking you to join us in this effort.
Go to his website -- BennetForColorado.com -- and get involved. Learn more about him, volunteer, and give him a donation. We'll be grateful, and we'll all be the better for it.
Thank you.
